In-Car Training
In unit one, participants will evaluate their driving strengths and proficiency, focusing on hazard prediction and essential driving skills. They will be further developing their practice of commentary driving, which enhances situational awareness and decision-making on the road.
Additionally, participants will master various driving routines that are crucial for safe driving practices. Understanding and applying these techniques will not only improve their own driving but also equip them with the skills to effectively teach potential driving instructors.

Who is it for?
- For ADIs who are thinking about delivering Potential Driving Instructor training and are exploring Train the Trainer options.
Learning Outcomes
- You will evaluate your own driving strengths, knowledge and abilities.
- You will be able to demonstrate a high level of professional driving.
- You will be able to demonstrate your ability to use commentary driving on various road environments.
- You will be introduced to commentary driving skills in various situations and understand how this is used in teaching driving skills.
- You will be able to compare and contrast systematic approaches to 4 different types of driving routines.
- You will understand how to assess a candidate's driving level against an advanced test.
What do you get?
- Following the training day you can request an attendance certificate.
- One year subscription to The Honest Truth (for delivering lessons to learner drivers and to use during PDI training)
- On completion of your in-car and online assignments you will be sent a completion certificate for Unit One. (You have six months to complete)
- On completion of all thirteen units of the Diploma for Teaching the Introduction to Driving Education Award you will receive your full qualification certificate which is SCQF Level 8 | 17 credit points. (You have two years to complete all thirteen units)
