Part 3 · Topic 03 of 37
What makes a good instructor?
Great instruction is customer service; eight habits, from clear communication to consistency across every channel, that make learners feel supported and create safer drivers.
Key facts
- Good customer service in instruction rests on eight habits: communication, responsiveness, empathy, knowledge, professionalism, personalisation, accountability and consistency
As an instructor you are teacher, coach and mentor in one. Every lesson you deliver shapes how someone will drive for the rest of their life, so it is worth reflecting on the impact you have on your students, and on what it would mean for road safety if that impact were careless. Good instruction, at its core, is good customer service.
