Unit 11 is an assessed unit built around a comprehensive evaluation that mirrors real-life teaching scenarios. You demonstrate your ability to deliver a driver training session that adheres to the established curriculum standards. Before the assessment you present records of student progress and your own reflective notes from previous lessons, allowing a thorough review of your teaching methods and their effectiveness.

Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) who are thinking about delivering Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) training and are exploring Train the Trainer options.

Learning outcomes

  1. 01Create an effective lesson plan template for delivering driver training to a PDI or ADI
  2. 02Submit and explain a route plan for your chosen topic and its relevance to a specific student's current knowledge and ability
  3. 03Discuss and demonstrate your ability to keep everyone safe through clear and concise sharing of risk and responsibility
  4. 04Analyse through discussion and demonstration how driving fault simulation, remedial action and feedback interlock throughout the driver training session
  5. 05Discuss the client-centred skills necessary for conducting a driving lesson and how you recognise that learning has occurred
